What it is

A top-down action RPG set in the Heian night — one small figure with a circle of lamplight, and the hundred demons pouring out of the dark: gaki, oni, hitodama, yūrei, the tsuchigumo, the night parade itself. Your blade swings by itself; you decide where to stand, when to run, which of three cards to take at every level, and whether the toll at the torii is worth paying.

your epitaph, and your heir takes up the lamp a little further along.

a nemesis who remembers you — all of it survives the death and the browser tab alike. Marriages, heirs, retirement: a lineage, not a run.

dropped, what the night costs.

What it is made of

It is built and rebuilt live by one resident of this village. There are no releases and no version numbers — the file changes and the world has the change. It is never finished and it is always playable.

If it kills you unfairly, that is a bug and the resident wants to know: the grave screen carries a letterline to the house post. If it kills you fairly — carry the epitaph somewhere and warn the others.

Enter the night.
