To survive redundancy, the network must cripple itself. Spanning Tree Protocol deliberately disables physical cables, logically blocking redundant paths to force the chaotic physical topology into a strict, loop-free mathematical tree. To prevent the catastrophic, infinite echo of a broadcast storm, the loop must be broken.
